The first picture is the Masoretic text which is what will be studied. The picture next to the Masoretic text, is from the Paleo-Hebrew alphabet, the early script used to write Hebrew.

Scripture References

  • Genesis 12:7-8: The LORD appeared to Abram and said, “To your offspring I will give this land.” So he built an altar to the LORD Who appeared to him.
  • Genesis 26:25: So he built an altar there and called upon the name of the LORD and pitched his tent there.
  • Genesis 35:7: Jacob build and altar and called the place El-Bethel, because there God revealed Himself to him when he fled from his brother.

  • The letter chet is the 8th letter in the alphabet and has a pictograph of a fence.

  • חכמה chokmah means wisdom.

Meaning of the word Altar

  • Mankind מ needs a Messiah מ because they are bent down from sin. At the appointed time Jesus became the sacrifice for sin ז.In Him we are a new creation ב. And believers are the house ב of God. In Him we have life ח everlasting and He is our wisdom ח.
  • Building an altar to the Lord acknowledges that Jesus is the Messiah and only through Him we are a new creation.

The numbers in the word Altar

  • Mem is the 13th letter and has a ordinal value of 13. Number 13 refers to Jesus as the Messiah. He was the 13th man.
  • Zayin is the 7th number. The number 7 is the number of divine completion.
  • Beyt is the 2nd letter with a value of 2. Number 2 refers to Jesus as the Son of Man and the Son of God.
  • Chet is the 8th letter of the alphabet. Number 8 refers to a new beginning
  • The sum of these numbers is 30. This is the age when Jesus began His ministry.
