Pictographs of the word "word", imre

א— a picture of an ox, strong leader.

ם—a picture of water, people.

ר— a picture of a man’s head.

י — a picture of an arm.

The strong leader א of mankind ם is the strong arm י that saves mankind ר

Polysemy

A polysemy is the capacity for a sign e.g, a word or phrase, to have multiple related meanings. There are two Hebrew words which are translated as word in English.

אֵמֶר - amar (root word for imre)

Proverbs 8:8 “All the words of my mouth are righteous; there is nothing twisted or crooked in them”.

דָּבָר— dabar

John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word.

בְּרֵאשִׁית הָיָה הַדָּבָר,

Beresheet hayah hadabar

Old Testament types of Christ

  • Adam was a type of Christ, Romans 5:14; whereas Adam's disobedience brought sin, Christ (the "last Adam") brings righteousness and life.

  • Isaac: The beloved, promised son whom Abraham willingly offered on Mount Moriah, foreshadowing God the Father sacrificing Jesus.

  • Joseph: The beloved son who suffered rejection and betrayal by his brothers, was unjustly humbled, and was later exalted to save many lives.

  • Moses: The prophet and mediator who delivered God's people from slavery and interceded for them, anticipating Jesus as the ultimate deliverer.

  • David: The shepherd-king who conquered his people's enemies and foreshadowed the eternal messianic kingship of Jesus.

  • Jonah: Spent three days in the belly of a great fish, which Jesus explicitly used as a type of His own death and resurrection.

Just as people were types of Christ, so there are also linguistic correlations: Jesus is the Word Who became flesh and dwelt among us. Jesus said to His “It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh is no help at all. The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and life”, John 6:63.

Jesus as the Word

John 1:1 “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God”.

Matthew 4:4 “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God”.

Revelation 19:13 "He was clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God.

Ordinal value of imre

ם = 13

ר = 20

י =  10

1 + 13 + 20 + 10 = 44

The standard value of the Hebrew word blood, dam דם, is also 44. The blood of the Word cleanses from all sin.
