Bammeh yezakeh na’ar et arechow lismor kidbareka

 Psalm 119 is significant for many reasons:

• It is the longest Chapter in the Bible;
• It is divided into 22 stanzas, each with 8 verses.
• The number of stanza correspond to the number of letters in Hebrew alphabet;
• Each 8 verses of every stanza start with a same letter;
• The first stanza, with aleph א , the 2nd with the 2nd letter, beyt ב
• The 3rd with the 3rd letter gimel ג until the 22nd  stanza, which starts with the last letter of the Hebrew alphabet, tav ת.

9. How can a young man heep his way pure? By guarding it according to Your Word.

10. With my whole heart I seek you; let me not wander from your commandments!

11. I have stored up Your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.

zakah is the root word from which yezakeh is derived.

ז zayin — picture of a sword;

כ kaf   — picture of the palm of the hand;

ה hey — picture of a man’s hands raised.



The sword in the palm of the hand, is to worship God.

1 Timothy 4:12

“Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and  in purity”.

Hebrews 13:4

“Marriage should be honoured by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral”.

2 Timothy 2:20-21

“Now in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and silver but also of wood and clay, some for honourable use, some for dishonourable. Those who cleanse themselves from the latter will be instruments for special purposes, made holy, useful to the Master and prepared to do any good work”. 

Purity is reflected in conduct, speech, faith and love;

It is a person who is not sexually immoral;

Who does good works;

Who does not sin against God;

A person with a pure heart is a vessel of honour.

Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me,

Psalms 51:10.
