Definition of Knowledge

Explicit knowledge: Information that is easily codified, documented, and shared (e.g., facts, data, manuals).

Tacit Knowledge: Practical "know-how" and skills gained through personal experience that are difficult to articulate or write down.

Conceptual & Structural Knowledge: The ability to form mental models, reason about cause and effect, and understand how different concepts relate to one another.

Biblical knowledge: The fear of the Lord. Proverbs 1:7.

Importance of Knowledge

Without knowledge:

“My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge; because you have rejected knowledge”, Hosea 4:6-7.

נִדְמ֥וּ  עַמִּ֖י  מִבְּלִ֣י  הַדָּ֑עַת nidmu ammi mibbeli ha’da’at

The word knowledge in this verse is not general knowledge as is indicated by the letter hey ה. The letter hey affixed to a noun indicates the definite article “the” הדעת .

What knowledge does this verse refer to?

Scripture References

2 Peter 3:18. But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Ephesians 1:17. That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of Him.

Colossians 2:2. That their hearts may be encouraged, being knit together in love, to reach all the riches of full assurance of understanding and the knowledge of God's mystery, which is Christ.

Jesus as the source of knowledge

In whom (Jesus) are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.” Colossians 2:3.

“…and I have made Your name known to them, and will make it known, so that the love with which You loved Me may be in them, and I in them,” John 17:26.

“I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me. If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also, John 14:6.

Power of knowledge

Philippians 3:9-11:

Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For His sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ and be found in Him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God that depends on faith -that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and may share His sufferings, becoming like Him in His death, that by any means possible I may attain the resurrection from the dead.

The Number 474

Words in Hebrew that have the same numerical values link different concepts and meanings to each other.

The numerical value of da’at דעת, knowledge, is 474.

The sum of the digits 4 + 7 + 4 = 15.

15 is the numerical value of Yah יה which means Lord.

The product of 4 x 7 x 4 = 112.

The numerical value of Lord God, Yahweh Elohim, יהוה אלהים, is 112.

The knowledge that is therefore the beginning of wisdom, is knowledge of the Lord God, Who is Jesus, and this knowledge gives wisdom and understanding.

Prayer

May the Lord give you a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope to which He has called you.
